Former council leader Paul Scriven has been elevated to the House of Lords by Nick Clegg.
You might remember him from the time he sang and danced in a promo video for Mercure Hotels.
Or the time just after losing his seat in a disastrous local election night, when he dismissed the idea of being made a peer as a "silly rumour."
In any case. Sheffield Politics congratulates Lord Scriven of Broomhill (presumably) and wishes him well in his future role helping to run the country.
