About Sheffield Politics
Sheffield Politics was launched in 2010, shortly after the general election. With the elevation of Nick Clegg to deputy prime minister, it became clear that Sheffield was to play a key role in the politics of the new Coalition. At the time, political coverage in the city's media was woeful* and there was an opportunity to explore how the national story was being played out at a local level.
Since then, Sheffield Politics has been used as a source for a number of national news outlets including the Independent and BBC Daily Politics. Our stories have been picked up by The Daily Telegraph, Yorkshire Post, Sheffield Star, Political Scrapbook and Private Eye.
* To be fair, it's got a lot better since then.
